Two countries seeking to strengthen trade links for mutually favourable products

Brazil’s agriculture minister, Carlos Fávaro, and the Peruvian ambassador, Rómulo Acurio, signed an agreement this week committing to opening up the Peruvian market for Brazilian apples and giving Peruvian citrus access to Brazil.

Brazil Peru trade links

The deal reflects the strengthening commercial ties between the two countries, who have committed to improving trade links on mutually favourable products.

During the meeting, the two delegations also discussed the Port of Chancay, the US$3bn mega-port, located 65km north of Lima, which is due to open this month.

The Brazilian government believe the port could generate new opportunities for the export of Brazilian produce, particulary to Asia.
