Preserved and frozen vegetable specialist Bonduelle this week announced its plan to acquire a factory and farmland in Russia belonging to French cooperative Cecab, the AFP reported, as the group looks to accelerate growth in this market.
'We need extra processing capacity in Russia, as the factory we have over there has reached saturation point,' explained the group's president, Christophe Bonduelle.
The decision to go ahead with the plan in Russia has led to the postponement of a project to build a new factory in Ukraine, the president said.
Bonduelle and Cecab are reportedly involved in exclusive negotiations, but no figure has as yet being divulged.
According to the AFP, Bonduelle is hopeful that the deal will be finalised before the end of the year.
