Israeli fresh produce exporter Aviv has started shipping the season's first volumes of fresh Black Bursa figs.
Black Bursa is a Turkish variety that is grown commercially by export group Aviv in Israel, and is available from the middle of July through until the end of August.
According to Aviv, it is one of the few fig varieties grown exclusively for the fresh market, due to its large size, high eating quality, and both travel and storage advantages.
'Aviv Corp has already received and shipped its first loads around the world successfully this past week, in part by having a considerable volume of the larger sizes available right from the start [of the season],' the group explained in a statement. 'Furthermore, Aviv’s order processing and shipping allows for the longest possible shelf life.
'Aviv also takes great care to pack our Black Bursa figs, using their eye-catching red and green 1kg cartons, with an insert-tray that nest each fruit individually for added protection during travel.'
