Jean-François Bonal has joined Biobest as general manager for Biobest Canada and Biobest USA, according to a statement from the sustainable crop management specialist.
The appointment is aimed at enabling Biobest to continue its rapid growth and further strengthen its contribution to sustainable horticulture in North America, the company revealed.
Bonal obtained an MBA in agronomy in France before taking on various roles in agricultural businesses in Europe and Africa. Following his move to North America in 1998, Bonal went on to hold progressive leadership positions in the food industry in both Canada and the US.
“I’m excited to join Biobest, a global leader in sustainable crop management,” he said. “I am also impressed with the commitment of the team in North America and confident that I will contribute to the realisation of our full potential.”
Bonal described the opportunities in sustainable horticulture in North America as “tremendous”.
“My first priority will be to consolidate our capability to reliably serve our growing customer base through operational excellence,” he said. “There are multiple growth drivers in North America. We benefit from an ever greater emphasis on healthy food and sustainable production. We have a significant innovation pipeline which I will manage to deliver maximum market impact. We will also strengthen our position in parts of the US and Canada where we have no or limited presence. We will continue to combine direct and distributor sales, a business model that is working well for the entire Biobest group.”
Jean-Marc Vandoorne, CEO of Biobest Group, commented: ”I am delighted to have Jean-François come on board. Biobest is developing globally at a rapid pace. Jean-François is the seasoned executive we were looking for to take our organisation to the next level in the US and Canada.”
