Belgian group Biobest has announced that it will implement a worldwide price increase for its products, next year, prices that will vary depending on market and region.

The crop protection specialist cited increased craw material costs as well as more expensive labour, transport and quality control, added to growing registration requirements.

'For over 25 years Biobest has focused on quality and reliability of its products which has made a significant contribution to a more sustainable crop management in the horticulture industry and the production of safe and healthy food in general,' the group said. 'Through this focus and with the help of its much valued distribution network, Biobest has become to be one of the most reliable leaders in the industry.

'Thanks to continued investments in efficient production technologies and innovation, Biobest was able to cope with substantial sales price drops over the years. However, today the company has been forced to announce a price increase as of 2013.'

Biobest noted that it would continue to invest in production improvements, which will enable the company to keep the rate increase at a minimum, while reaffirming its commitment to quality and innovation.
