Austria-based supermarket operator Billa, which is owned by German group Rewe, has announced plans to open a total of seven new outlets under the Billa banner this week.
Already present in Italy with around 70 stores, the planned opening of the new supermarkets in Piedmont and the Aosta Valley on 14 January sees the company venture into the north-east of the country for the first time.
'Billa's debut in the Aosta Valley and Piedmont strongly underlines our group's commitment to expanding its offer in Italy in terms of freshness, range, service and convenience which consumers in several regions of Italy already know and appreciate,' commented Gotthart Klingan, managing director of Billa Italia.
The new supermarkets will be located in Turin, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Castagnito, Rivoli, Moncalieri and Nichelino, with two stores due to open in Aosta.
