Talks between Belgian auctions Belgische Fruitveiling (BFV) and Profruco concerning a possible merger are moving in a positive direction, a BFV spokesperson told Fruitnet.com today.
The merger cannot go ahead without the agreement of the growers from both auctions. Profuco's growers have already given their consent, while BFV's growers are due to meet the board on 5 February in order to say whether or not they approve of the merger.
The aim of the merger is to optimise services for the growers and to improve coordination between the growing side and the distribution side, a source close to the discussions revealed.
