BEST Sorting centre launch 2011

Belgium-based machinery group BEST Sorting has enjoyed a productive few weeks, with the launch of its fourth Sorting Solution Centre (BSSC) and the introduction of two new products in the shape of its Opus and Nimbus sorters.

On 21 September, Flemish prime-minister Kris Peeters officially opened the BSSC in Leuven, the fourth of its kind following existing sites in Denver (US), Hanghzou (China) and one already operating in Leuven.

BSSC's are designed to create an optimised customer experience by allowing the testing of BEST's solutions to demonstrate their efficiency, allowing prospective clients to evaluate the results before investing.

All of the group's BSSC's are located close to international airports for accessibility, with more than 20 machines available for testing and demonstrations.

Meanwhile, BEST has also announced the launch of two technological innovations, with the introduction of its next-generation Opus and Nimbus free-fall sorters.

Nimbus is a laser/camera sorting solution that detects all colour, structure, size and shape defects from a stream of good products, the group says, and is also able to sort by biological characteristics including chlorophyll, mycotoxins and water.

The Opus is a state-of-the-art free-fall modular camera and laser sorter with a small footprint and an inspection width of 1m that allows users to integrate an IQF fruit or vegetable packing line.
