Rijk Zwaan has revealed that it is taking a different approach to presenting itself at Fruit Logistica this year, by basing its stand on the Love my Salad concept – the social salad network that is one of 10 nominees for the prestigious Fruit Logistica Innovation Award.
Lovemysalad.com is an interactive website and social network forumfor salad lovers across the world, both private and professional, to share their passion for vegetables and salads. The website provides an opportunity for fans of a specific product range to interact socially via recipe suggestions, postings and news.
Fruit Logistica, which takes place on 8-10 February at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Germany, marks the first time that Rijk Zwaan has presented the concept to its business partners on a large scale.
'Rather than focusing on one particular product or product line, we've made a conscious decision this year to highlight the opportunities presented by vegetables and salads in general,' noted Auke Ferwerda, marketing manager at Rijk Zwaan. 'Our aim is to inspire our partners to make their own contribution to Love my Salad.
'By providing a platform which unites consumers and professionals as salad lovers and vegetable lovers, we can increase the worldwide vegetable consumption together,' Fewerda added. 'And that is a very healthy and socially responsible prospect which will ultimately benefit the entire sector.'
While the Love my Salad concept will take centre stage in Berlin, Rijk Zwaan has confirmed that it will be presenting a number of other varieties, product lines and brands at the event.
