According to a press release from Belgium's Colruyt, the retail chain has had to withdraw bags of Nice & Easy wok vegetables from its shelves due to the presence of illegal levels of the insecticide dimethoate.
Consumers have been advised to return bags with particular sell-by dates to the stores from which they bought them.
Although the insecticide is only hazardous to the health when consumed regularly and in large amounts, smaller doses can cause nausea and vomiting, the group revealed.
Stating the same reasons, fellow Belgian retailer Delhaize has also withdrawn two products, its 400g mixed vegetable bags and its 300g packs of broccoli.
