Belgian pear exporters have been granted access to the Vietnamese market, according to Marc Evrard, commercial director at Belgian cooperative BFV (Belgian Fruit Valley).
“The first containers will be leaving in a week’s time,” said Evrard. “The main focus will be on the Conference variety.”
The continued closure of the Russian market has made it essential for Belgian exporters to find new markets, not least for topfruit.
The opening of the Vietnamese market marks a good year for Belgian pear exporters, which gained access to the Brazilian market back in February and continue to make further inroads in India.
