Beeker Berries, one of the largest modern producers of berries in the Netherlands, has outlined the benefits that it has seen since introducing Marco's Yield Control System (YCM) at its packhouse in Made, North Brabant.
According to the Dutch soft fruit producer, which markets its products through Vitalberry bv to leading European supermarkets and wholesale markets, the 12-station YCM is helping to bring in 'significant reductions' in pack giveaway while also improving productivity.
The Marco system features innovative optimisation software, which constantly monitors and adjusts target weight tolerances to maintain optimum pack weight consistency.
'The packing of our range of soft fruit requires a fine balance between speed and presentation to ensure we deliver accurate pack weights of the highest quality fruits,' said Jack Knipscheer, packhouse manager at Beekers. 'The intuitive Marco system is very easy for our operators to use and has already reduced pack giveaway to fractions of a gram - this has a direct impact on our bottom line productivity.'
