Bayer CropScience is using the Fruit Logistica trade show in Berlin to showcase business initiatives from its Food Chain Partnership programme with new associates from South America.
The company has worked hard to forge partnerships with leading retailers, suppliers and growers in the region, including Walmart Chile, Univeg Group and Agricola Famosa, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of melons.
“The success of the global fruit and vegetables business for all partners depends increasingly on the sustainable production of fresh produce,” Bayer CropScience’s head of food chain management, Dr Birgitt Walz-Tylla said.
“At Bayer CropScience, our core competencies lie in developing and supplying locally adapted agricultural technologies and solutions aimed at improving crop productivity and quality.”
The Food Chain Partnership programme involves 240 projects in 30 countries and 40 crops.
As part of the programme, Bayer CropScience offers partners – from farmers to food retailers – integrated crop solutions based on seeds and effective crop protection.
Bayer CropScience also provides training for farmers and technicians.
