Spanish fresh produce handling company Barcelona Reefer Terminal has been awarded the contract to manage Port Nou Terminal’s fruit handling facilities at the Port of Barcelona.
Administrators at Barcelona Port Authority (APB) this week approved the award of the contract, which will see Barcelona Reefer Terminal replacing Barcelona Fruit Terminal as the company in charge of the Catalan port’s specialist fruit facility.
According to Diario del Puerto, Barcelona Reefer Terminal’s intention is to increase the level of fruit-related traffic entering and leaving the port.
Although substantial volumes of fresh products are already handled at the Port Nou terminal, the company believes that there is considerable room for further growth in the level of fruit-related traffic at the site.
Barcelona Reefer Terminal is a joint venture operation between two Barcelona-based logistics companies – Transitainer and ICC – who are specialised in fruit handling, management and transport.
