Two of Bakkavor Group's businesses in the UK, Tilmanstone Salads and Wingland Foods, have had their approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health recognised at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2012.

According to a news release by Bakkavor, both sites have been awarded Gold status and will be presented with their awards at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on 15 May – marking the fifth consecutive year Wingland Foods has achieved Gold.

David Rawlins, awards manager at the RoSPA, a safety charity with a 95-year history, said: 'The RoSPA Awards programme provides well-deserved recognition for the winners and spurs on other organisations to raise their standards of accident and ill health prevention. We congratulate both Tilmanstone Salads and Wingland Foods on their success and encourage them, and all our other winners, to remain committed to safety and health, an approach that is well recognised to be good for workers and the bottom line.'

Ann Savage, group technical director at Bakkavor Group, added: 'We are delighted to have been recognised by RoSPA for our achievements. This reflects the hard work and commitment both of these sites have made towards the ongoing prevention of accidents and ill health within their respective businesses.'
