British Airways World Cargo has launched a new freighter service between Bogota, Colombia and Bridgetown, Barbados, as it looks to take advantage of a new US$600,000 (€475,208) cooling facility in Bridgetown and better connect regional customers to the group's global network.
The new facility, which measures 418m2, will provide additional capacity for perishable shipments to and from Bogota and other Latin American destinations, the group said. Equipped with state-of-the-art refrigeration and humidification systems, the cooling site also boasts a 25 airline pallet position conveyor system.
The launch of this new freighter service and opening of the new cooling facility enables us to provide our Bogota customers with highly sought-after capacity for constant fresh shipments to Europe,' said BA World Cargo's area sales manager for Latin America, the Caribbean and Florida Rodrigo Casal.
'We can now ship perishables from destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean to Barbados, and then transfer them to BA World Cargo flights connecting to Europe and other mainline destinations, without breaking the cool chain,' he added.
