Swedish retail operator Axfood has announced consolidated sales for the period January-March totalling SKr8.26bn.
The figure represented an increase of 0.6 per cent on the SKr8.21bn it achieved in the same period of last year.
Retail sales for the group's own stores decreased by 0.4 per cent during the period, however, while like-for-like sales decreased by 2.4 per cent compared with the year-earlier period.
Operating profit was SKr241m, down on SKr245m in the first quarter of 2010, and net profit for the three months was SKr172m, against SKr174 in January-March of the previous year.
Axfood said its goal for 2011 was to achieve an operating profit 'at least at the same level as in 2010'.
