Camposol has reported sales of US$72.8m in the second quarter of 2014, up 55.6 per cent on the same period of 2013.
The improvement was mainly due to an increase in volume sold of fresh avocados as well as higher prices of preserved asparagus, the group noted.
EBITDA was US$16.3m, 165.5 per cent higher than last year, explained mainly by higher volumes of avocadoes. Volume sold during the second quarter was 31,786 tonnes, up 68.3 per cent.
'The long term growth prospects for exotic fruits and vegetables markets are excellent,' the group stated. 'Avocados and mango are growing, with headroom for increased per capita consumption in key markets.
'In the case of asparagus, although consumption is stable, supply is falling due mainly to reduced exports from China. The Company expects good demand for all fresh produce in general and for avocadoes specifically in both the US and Europe.'
