Overall fruit production in Austria jumped some 13 per cent over the course of 2011, up to 269,000 tonnes, according to figures released in the country and reported by Freshplaza.
Commercial topfruit cultivation for the year came in at 235,700 tonnes, up 15 per cent on 2010, while stonefruit yields came in at 15,200 tonnes, up one-third on the previous campaign.
Elsewhere, berries fell 13 per cent to 17,800 tonnes, with strawberries down 13 per cent to 14,200 tonnes but raspberries up 3 per cent to 1,200 tonnes.
