French retailer Auchan has announced that it is planning to open six new hypermarkets in the Russian market by 2010, according to FoodBizDaily.
New stores will be concentrated in the largest Russian cities, according to Jean-Pierre Zhermen, CEO of Auchan Russia, including in St Petersburg, Ufa, Samara and Kazan, with two earmarked for Moscow.
Auchan has been operating in the country since 2002. It currently has 34 hypermarkets, including 11 in Moscow and three in St Petersburg.
