Dutch group Euro Pool System, Europe's largest logistics service provider of returnable containers for fresh produce, has revealed details of a new deal that it has agreed with Auchan's Italian subsidiary.
According to Euro Pool's May newsletter, it has recently signed a five-year contract with the Italian hypermarket chain for the use of crates in the transportation and presentation of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The deal begins this month and covers Auchan's entire Italian hypermarket network, comprising of 51 outlets.
This year, some 4.5m crates will be in circulation, with that number expected to increase in coming years, Euro Pool noted.
