Ashdod

Statistics published by the port of Ashdod in Israel demonstrate the success that the port has experienced in the first half of 2010.

In the first six months of the year, 1,328 vessels called at the port, an increase of 13 per cent compared with the 1,179 vessels that called during the same period in 2009.

The port handled 526,421 TEU, up 25 per cent from the year-earlier period's 422,563 TEU, with 238,251 TEU being unloaded (a rise of 28 per cent) and 109,881 TEU being loaded (an increase of 39 per cent).

In tonnage terms, volumes during the first six months rose by some 43 per cent to 9.6m tonnes.
