Asda Trollies

Asda has announced that it has moved to appoint a new chief operating officer, with Judith McKenna making the move from her current role of chief financial officer, a position she has held since 2011.

In her new role, which she takes up in September this year, McKenna will take on leadership of all of Asda's retail operations, including its stores, distribution network and IT systems.

'I am delighted that Judith McKenna has become our new chief operating officer,' said Asda president and CEO Andy Clarke, in an announcement to colleagues. 'In the last year alone, her work leading the Netto acquisition and integration programme – which is reinventing our retail future – demonstrates that she's the natural choice for this role.

'She also represents someone who lives Asda's culture everyday,' he added. 'Her understanding of our business, her passion for people development, her down-to-earth style and ability to get things done, will all contribute to ensuring she is a great COO.'
