Christiane Bell, a former buyer at German discount retailer Penny Markt and previously a senior executive at Dutch marketer The Greenery, has taken up a new role as a fresh produce director of German conglomerate BayWa.

Bell will be directly responsible for the group's fruit business and, according to German weekly Fruchthandel, will also be involved in managing operations at New Zealand subsidiary Turners & Growers.

In her most recent role at Rewe-owned Penny, Bell was head of fruits, vegetables and baked goods. Before that, she wassales director for Germany and Scandinavia at The Greenery.

Bell took up her new role at the start of May.
