Purfresh has announced that Interfresh Cargo has chosen its Purfresh Transport system for its customers to maintain quality and freshness of blueberries shipped via ocean from Argentina to the Netherlands, the UK and the US.
The group, a leading provider of clean technologies that purify, protect and preserve food, revealed that blueberry shippers had indicated a preference for Purfresh Transport, with arrivals showing improvements in firmness, colour and taste as well as a reduction in shrivel when compared with high CO2 modified atmosphere technology.
Providing our customers with the technology they need to deliver higher quality arrivals extends the value of Purfresh Transport and is beneficial to all – the shipper, receiver, retailer and consumer,' said Gerardo Tapa, director at Interfresh. 'Loss due to decay and over-ripening during long-distance ocean transport is a constant challenge for the shipping industry, and the Purfresh Transport technology is one of the most effective and easiest ways to combat it.'
Purfresh Transport reduces the risk of cargo loss, enhances food safety and helps ensure high quality arrivals through the use of intelligent cargo protection technology, which is crucial for blueberries - a sensitive fruit that needs protecting from gray mould and the detrimental impact of ethylene during long-distance ocean transport.
'We are honoured to partner with Interfresh Cargo to help their customers deliver higher quality fresh produce and to expand their business opportunities by reaching broader foreign markets,' said David Bouchard, general manager for Purfresh. 'Interfresh is a well respected transportation logistics and services company focused on providing high-quality products and services, and we are proud to have them representing our Purfresh Transport technology in Argentina.'
