Argentina exported 15,069 tonnes of blueberries in 2012/13, down 4.6 per cent on the previous season's total of 15,803 tonnes.
The Argentinean Blueberry Committee reported that the US took 63 per cent of total sendings, down 2 per cent from 2011/12, while other destinations' volumes remained relatively flat.
Volumes were up 59.6 per cent until week 40 – from 1,467 tonnes to 2,341 tonnes – but in week 42 rainfall impaired production in Concordia, causing the industry to narrowly miss its original forecast of 15,486 tonnes.
The committee, which aims to educate and build awareness of Argentinean blueberries in the US and around the world, also revealed that 93 per cent of exports were sent by air, compared with 79 per cent in 2011/12.
