The Argentinean Blueberry Committee has told Fruitnet.com that the impact of recent frosts in the country’s Tucumán region is not serious.
Despite continued low temperatures on a daily basis, with the mercury falling as low as -2oC to -6oC in some places, the Committee says the damage to blueberries is not significant given the phenological state of the crop.
“The frosts in Tucumán over the last few weeks were of singular intensity and duration,” the organisation said.
The Committee claims temperatures should increase until 20 July when another cold front is expected to reach the region and last until the beginning of August.
During that time frosts of variable intensity in the east of Tucumán are predicted, according to data from Accu Weather and Tucumán weather agency EEAOC.
