APM Terminals and unions FNV and CNV have signed a new labour contract for the Maasvlakte2 terminal, which is due to open in the port of Rotterdam next year. The deal also covers workers at APMT’s existing container facility at the port, where services have been severely disrupted this week by the stoppage.
The new agreement comes into effect on 1 January 2014 and will run through to 31 December 2017. It sets out provision for salaries adjusted for inflation each year plus wage increases of 0.5 per cent and 1 per cent above inflation in 2015 and 2016, and €3,600 in one-off payments over the CLA period.
“The new CLA contains clear labour condition agreements for employees interested in transferring to our new facility,” said APMT’s Maasvlakte2 managing director Frank Tazelaar. “And for our customers, they know they will be able to access 24/7 operations at our terminal.”
Maasvlakte2 will become Europe’s biggest container terminal complex when it opens in November 2014, with an initial capacity of 2.7m TEUs rising to 4.7m TEUs on completion.
