Global container terminal owner and operator APM Terminals has signed a five-year agreement with the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands to combine efforts in industry research and development.
The alliance will see the groups working towards innovative procedures in the fields of environmentally proactive terminal planning and operating procedures with sustainable development, and improving productivity. Other objectives include a drive to raise awareness of the role played by container facilities in benefiting economies and creating employment. 'We aspire to be leaders in innovation,' said APM's vice-president John Verschelden.
