Antwerp Port Authority has emphasised the importance of the port's trade with Germany by appointing a new representative in the country, Dr. Dieter Lindenblatt.
Dr. Lindenblatt's role will be to further investigate and develop the Port of Antwerp's opportunities in the country, in particular the North Rhine Westphalia region.
In his new position he will be the first point of contact for the German manufacturing and logistics sectors, while offering support for the strategic, commercial and marketing policy of Antwerp Port Authority.
Around 20 per cent of Antwerp's hinterland trade is with Germany, with the majority containerised. Last year, the volume of containerised trade with Germany was around 1m TEU, according to Antwerp Port Authority.
