Foasat has become the latest cooperative to join Anecoop, bringing the total number of fruit, vegetable and wine producers in the group to 69. Andalusia-based Foasat is the fourth producer to become a member of the cooperative grouping this year.
Foasat produces around 25,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables a year on farms in Seville, Córdoba and Huelva and operates an 11,000m2 packhouse in Peñaflor, rebuilt in 2014 after a fire.
“After several years working successfully with Anecoop, it was a logical next step to join the group,” said Foasat CEO Javier López-Esparza.
“With this move we will consolidate our supply and gain access to Anecoop’s extensive trading infrastructure and research capability.”
Anecoop president Alejandro Monzón welcomed the new member, noting that “joining forces always generates competitive advantages, such as increasing supply, extending the marketing calendar and boosting research and development projects”.
