Leading Spanish fresh produce group Anecoop has announced that Joan Mir has officially assumed the post of managing director, taking over from José María Planells who has now retired from the organisation.
Mr Mir, formerly Anecoop’s director of marketing and strategy, formally took over as managing director on 1 October from Mr Planells, having been endorsed by the group’s governing council in November last year.
In a letter circulated to all member producers, the Valencia-based company’s chairman, Juan Safont, paid tribute to Mr Planells, who had guided Anecoop since its formation almost 35 years ago.
He said: “Anecoop will soon be 35 years old. Many facts could describe the development of these 35 years, but undoubtedly one of the most significant has been the role played by José María Planells as managing director of the company all along this period.
“We are immensely grateful to José María for dedicating his working life and professional activity to the creation and consolidation of this cooperative company, taking care of the principles of fairness and solidarity, among others.”
