Amazon UK grocery

The UK operation of online multinational commerce company Amazon has today (7 July) launched a new web-based Grocery Store offering free delivery on a range of products, including fresh fruit and vegetables.

Included in the range of over 22,000 grocery lines are products from big brands such as Walkers, Kraft and Nestle, as well as those from international brand suppliers like Eurofoods, Tazaki and Bespoke.

Customers can also take advantage of the convenience and savings available when buying in bulk at Amazon.co.uk, while a range of international and specialist items from organic, kosher, gluten free, sugar free and vegan can also be purchased.

'Amazon.co.uk's aim is to be the place where customers can find and discover any product they want to buy online, and with the introduction of the new store there are thousands of household, niche, ethnic and international grocery items, all available at the click of a button,' said James Leeson, director of grocery at Amazon.co.uk.

'With unlimited virtual shelf space, customers can choose from a wide variety of products, all of which benefit from free delivery,' he added. 'We will work tirelessly to increase the selection of grocery items available to be delivered directly to customers' doors.'

The news follows a move last week (1 July) by Amazon's German arm to launch a similar service for shoppers in the country, with customers able to choose from over 30,000 products in total, divided into 25 categories.
