A group of 21 importers from nine countries attended a fresh produce buyers’ mission in Almeria on Wednesday.
Some 15 local producers took part in the event, organised by Andalusian trade promotion agency Extenda. These included Vicasol, Alhóndiga La Unión, Agro San Isidro and Balcón de Níjar.
According to Vanesa Bernad of Extenda, exports of fruit and vegetable exports from Almeria rose by 12 per cent to €2.34bn in 2015 and now make up almost half of Andalusia’s export total. Sales for the first quarter of 2016 reached €1.129bn.
Bernad said the mission was one of a number of activities organised by the trade promotion agency throughout the year to boost links between foreign buyers and local producers.T
