New data from Extenda and Datacomex has revealed that citrus exporters in Almería exported 31,100 tonnes of citrus through the January-September period, growth of 64.5 per cent on the same period of 2011.
In value terms, Almería stands as the second-largest exporting province in Andalusia, contributing to 20.8 per cent of regional exports, making it the eighth-largest exporting region in Spain, with a share of 1.2 per cent.
By product, oranges are Almería's top-selling citrus product, Ideal reported, with turnover for the product coming to €10.2m during the nine-month period (up 55 per cent) and led by importers including Italy, Germany and France.
Lemon sales came to €5m in value terms, up 24 per cent, while mandarin numbers grew 17.6 per cent to €3.7m.
