Outgoing MD Enrique Colilles to be replaced by Víctor Luque
Enrique Colilles, managing director of Trops, has announced that he is to leave the Málaga-based tropicals cooperative after 26 years. As of 31 March, he will be replaced by Víctor Luque, who joins from comes PriceWaterhouseCooper (PwC).
Luque has spent the past 18 years at PwC, holding various positions both in Spain and internationally. He has extensive experience in the agri-food sector, audits and financial and sustainability advice (ESG), as well as in risk management projects, internal control, review of procedures and systems and compliance.
Luque said he is “very excited” with the new role, and that he aims to “provide value and confidence, and continue working in the same way in which the cooperative had already been doing it in recent years, always focused on excellence”.
Colilles, who will assume a new position at a multinational nuts company based in Portugal, will maintain the presidency of the recently created Avocado and Mango Interprofessional.
Commenting on Luque’s appointment, Colilles said: “It is fortunate that someone like Víctor’s has chosen a cooperative over a multinational. Without a doubt, the person who will be the new managing director of Trops has a continuous, discerning and experienced profile, which will allow the company to continue growing and evolving”.
“Trops is working exceptionally right now, there is a very consolidated team and strong structures for the challenges that come in the future,” Colilles continued, noting that the cooperative “has positioned itself at the vanguard in the production and marketing of avocados and mangoes”.
Luque added: “Trops’s strength is the 4,000 committed farmers and a great team of specialised professionals, so I have no doubt that this will continue to work the same or even better”.
Trops is Spain’s biggest avocado and mango producer, with more than 3,000 associated growers in seven Spanish provinces and the Portuguese Algarve and a turnover of €180m. It exports to 25 markets.
