Alimentaria Mexico, one of the leading food and beverage events in the Mexican calendar, has been postponed for a year following the outbreak of AH1N1, or Swine Flu, in the country.
Organisers Alimentaria Exhibitions and EJ Krause have opted to push the event back a year in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants.
'Because of the situation that the country is going through as a result of Influenza AH1N1, and by obeying recommendations from the Mexican government, the organisers of Alimentaria Mexico have, through necessity, postponed the event,' said fair director Victor Pascual.
The event, which was due to take place at the Centro Banamex de Mexico in Mexico City on 2-4 June this year, has now been rescheduled for 1-3 June 2010.
Around 450 companies from 30 different countries were expected to exhibit at the event, which was expected to attract over 12,000 professionals from the food and beverage industries.
