Salix Fruits has appointed Alejandro Moralejo as associate and CEO, a new position within the company.
Previously, Moralejo worked for 18 years at global citrus marketer San Miguel, where he held a number of roles including commercial manager, corporate commercial director of fresh fruit and global director of strategic sourcing.
“The incorporation of Alejandro to Salix consummates a process of reconversion of the corporate structure, now more directed towards management, started in 2017 with the integration of Daniel Calvo as financial director and associate,” the company said in a press release.
“Alejandro joins in a great moment of the opening of new markets in order to consolidate the high growth rate experienced by the company in recent years and to reinforce the corporate strategy of providing excellent quality products and a worldwide network of supply and markets.
“Undoubtedly, his human warmth, ability and vast experience are key to represent the Salix’s values.”
Salix sold more than 1m cartons of fruit 2017, a significant rise on the previous year, while increasing its number of suppliers, customers, products, origins and markets.
As well as serving the Americas and Russia, the company has built a solid presence in the Middle East, Asia and Canada.
Under Moralejo’s direction Salix plans to further develop the European market, increase its sourcing operation in Spain, and boost its citrus portfolio.
