Aldi sign

Discount retailer Aldi has revealed that it will open its first Texas-based stores on March 18 across the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex area, the first stage of US$150m investment in the state.

The openings mark the beginning of Aldi's Texan operation, with a further nine stores to open in April and seven outlets to launch in May this year.

'There's no better time than now for great prices, good jobs and a lasting community investment,' said Aldi Denton division vice-president Scott Huska. 'Whether shoppers need to stretch a budget or simply choose to have more money to spend on other things, North Texans can count on us for high-quality select brands at prices no-one else can touch.'

As part of the US$150m invested in the Texas market, US$50m has been spent on a new 500,000 square foot distribution centre in Denton, employing around 75 local residents.
