German discount grocer Aldi Nord has set out plans to revamp its 5,000 northern European outlets over the course of the next two years, according to Lebensmittel Zeitung and reported by Planet Retail.
According to the German publication, the group intends to invest around €280m per year in Germany alone, on top of the group's annual expansion costs that hit around €200m.
The main focus for the modernisation will be on rearranging its product categories, improving lighting and deploying in-store bakeries, the report suggested.
