Dutch marketer The Greenery has announced that its finance director Albert Knol has agreed to step down from his position at the company by mutual consent with the group's supervisory board.
Expressing regret at the decision, which comes into effect immediately, the company said Knol had been instrumental for a number of major improvements to the business, including the introduction of new enterprise management software and, more recently, steering it through a difficult period of reorganisation and restructuring following a serious decline in profitability.
'Albert has been with The Greenery since 1997, and was appointed finance director in 2005,' The Greenery said in a statement. 'During this period, he was responsible for the successful implementation of SAP, guided various improvement procedures and played a pivotal role in securing financing for Phoenix, among other things.'
Knol himself suggested the time was right to move on: 'In recent months, The Greenery has opted for a strategy of cost-price leadership. With this strategy now in place and beginning to bear fruit, I have decided to put the company at liberty to hire a financial director who can continue building on this foundation and building a healthy future for The Greenery.'
He added: 'It has been a great pleasure to work for this company, and I see many opportunities for The Greenery's successful growth over the years ahead.'
As of 7 May, Koos Boot has been appointed acting finance director. He previously served as director and CFO of Royal Joh Enschedé, the Dutch company responsible, among other things, for printing the banknotes used in a number of EU countries including the Netherlands.
In the meantime and until the end of the year, Knol will continue to advise The Greenery.
'The supervisory board would like to thank Albert for his efforts on behalf of The Greenery and wishes him every success for the future.'
