Ahold has announced that Tom de Swaan will resign from the company's supervisory board on 30 September 2013.
According to the Dutch retailer, de Swaan opted to resign from his position at Ahold as a result of his appointment as chairman of Zurich Insurance Group on 11 September 2013.
'Tom has been a great member of our supervisory board, and the company has benefitted from his insights and expertise during his long career in the financial industry,' said René Dahan, chairman of Ahold's supervisory board. 'We fully understand his decision and wish him all the very best in his new duties.'
