Ahold

Ahold has announced that it will move its corporate headquarters from Amsterdam to Zaandam next year, a relocation that is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2013.

The Dutch retailer's corporate centre, which comprises the corporate executive board and approximately 150 employees working in support functions, will relocate to a new building in Zaandam, which also houses the management teams and support organisations of Ahold Europe, Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall & Gall and albert.nl.

'This move will enable us to maximise synergies and save costs,' said Dick Boer, chief executive officer at Ahold.

'In Zaandam, we will benefit from co-location with our colleagues at Ahold Europe, while continuing to be located near to Amsterdam with its business and financial community and Schiphol airport,' he added. 'We thank the city of Amsterdam for eight years of great hospitality.'
