Spain’s Grupo Agroponiente has acquired Agrocastell, a fruit and vegetable producer located on the southern coast near Granada.
The deal significantly extends the group’s coverage of south-eastern Spain’s main horticultural production belt and brings its total number of logistics centres to 25.
Agroponiente’s direct of operations, Antonio Román, said the group’s goal was to be present wherever there are producers.
“It was important for us to bring our corporate identity and ethos to the area, in order to provide added value to its producers,” he said.
“Our main commitment is to make it easier for growers, to help them in their daily work through our logistics centres in all the provinces in which we are present.”
Grupo Agroponiente is one of the biggest marketers of fresh fruits and vegetables in southern Spain, with an annual sales volume of 350,000 tonnes.
