TMS is one of the most productive terminals on the West Coast of South America
The Terminal Muelle Sur (TMS) at the Port of Callao handled agricultural shipments worth US$3.666 bn (FOB) in 2024, including flagship products such as avocados, grapes, and blueberries, according to DP World.
Last year, DP World completed a US$400mn extension project at the Peruvian port, increasing container handling capacity at the South Terminal by 80 per cent.
The port has also boosted job creation in the region. In 2023, DP World Callao generated more than 17,000 direct and indirect jobs, equivalent to 11 per cent of formal private employment in Callao.
During a recent visit to DP World Callao’s facilities by the Peruvian minister of economy and finance, José Salardi, DP World Peru CEO Carlos Merino commented: “We have been a very important player in bringing Peruvian products to the world. We are committed to Peru’s export growth and will do what is necessary to provide port facilities to ensure this growth continues”.
He noted that since 2010, DP World Callao’s positive impact on Callao’s GDP as the concessionaire of the Muelle Sur Terminal has been US$3.051bn.
