Leading Israeli fresh produce exporter Agrexco has announced plans to switch its entry point into Europe from the French port of Marseilles to the Port of Vado, Savona in northern Italy.
The company said in a statement that the Italian port's highly efficient access to the European road network had convinced it to make the change.
Agrexco's specialised reefer vessels, Carmel Biotop and Carmel Ecofresh, will continue to transport cargo pallets and refrigerated containers on weekly services from the Israeli port of Ashdod, sailing via Vado, Fos-sur-Mer (France), Valencia (Spain) and Haifa (Israel) back to Ashdod.
