The Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) has announced in a press release the appointment of a new chairman for the organisation until 2012.
Juan Varillas Velásquez, executive director of local grower-exporter Gandules, will take up the post on 31 March, replacing outgoing José Luis Silva Martinot.
Mr Varillas is a well-known agricultural exporter from the north of Peru and brings to Adex a wealth of extensive experience from across the entire agro-industrial sector.
Accompanying him are Carlos Lozada Zingoni and Humberto Speziani, who have been elected first and second vice-president, respectively.
Juan Alfredo Menacho was also appointed secretary, with Pedro Luksic and Alejandro Pedraza as board members.
Within the organisation, Eric Farah Bote and Rosario Bazán were selected to head up the Committee for Fruits and Vegetables, and Jorge Chepote and Renzo Gómez to lead the Committee for Bell Peppers.
