Wal-Mart de Mexico has reported that net profit for the second-quarter ended June 2010 increased by 24 per cent year-on-year to US$360m, with operating profit up 25 per cent to US$602m.
Revenues for the quarter climbed by 26.7 per cent to US$6.3bn, with results boosted by the addition of new Central American operations from parent company Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and regional investors.
Like-for-like sales grew 2.7 per cent on the previous year, aided by a 3.7 per cent rise in customer numbers, although the average ticket spend fell 0.9 per cent, impacted by the World Cup and a shift in this year's Easter holiday period.
Walmex has launched 77 new outlets so far this year, with its total store portfolio currently standing at 2,067.
