Banexcel’s Ricardo Umpiérrez will serve for the 2024-26 term
Ricardo Umpiérrez of Banexcel has been elected as the new president of the Banana Marketing and Export Association of Ecuador (Acorbanec). Richard Salazar was reappointed as executive director for the same period.
The announcement was made at the association’s annual general meeting on Monday, at which its new board of directors for the 2024-26 period was elected.
The new board includes representatives from key companies in the sector, such as Comersur Cía, Tecniagrex, Luderson and Green Express, who will play essential roles in strengthening Acorbanec’s management. Its main objectives include the sustainability of banana production and the promotion of the sector’s competitiveness both nationally and internationally.
At the meeting, Acorbanec reaffirmed its commitment to defend the interests of the Ecuadorean banana sector, both in Ecuador and internationally, to ensure the sustainability of banana production and improve the competitiveness of the sector.
Acorbanec recently held the inaugural edition of Banana Business, its new international convention in the city of Machala in Ecuador’s El Oro province.
