George Hammond plc

The Port Services Division of George Hammond PLC, the reefer terminal based in Dover, UK, has been accredited to the exacting quality standards of the 360 Quality Association.

With the accreditation, which was awarded on 16 November by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd, George Hammond has become the first fruit terminal in the UK to be recognised by the Association.

The terminal counts major customers including Africa Express Line, Del Monte and Seatrade Reefer, while UK importers include Dole Fresh, Mack Multiples, Fyffes, Fresh Del Monte, SH Pratt, Tesco PGS, Keelings and International Produce.

Established in June 2005 by a group of specialised reefer shippingcompanies, the 360 360 Quality Associationstandard aims to raise the quality in cargo care andmeet the demands of the dynamic reefer market. The 360 Quality Association was founded in 2006 as a platform to implement and further develop the concept.

In 2008, Dutch reefer terminal Kloosterboer Vlissingen became the first reefer terminal handler to be awarded the certification.
